Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl elected as BIG’s Vice-Chair
The Brussels Institute for Geopolitics is delighted to announce Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl has been elected (5 June 2025) as the new Vice-Chair of the Board by its members.
She succeeds Rita Faden, the first Vice-Chair and will serve alongside current Chair Heiko Thoms, former State Secretary for Financial Market Policy, European Policy and International Financial Policy at the German Federal Ministry of Finance.
Ms. Bonefeld-Dahl brings a wealth of experience to the role. Currently acting as Director-General at Digital Europe, she has held international positions at IBM and Oracle as well as building her own businesses across Europe and China. She advised NATO on critical technologies and is also a member of the European Commission’s Industrial Forum, the High-Level Forum on European Standardisation and the Stakeholder Cybersecurity Certification Group of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).
The Board at the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics ensures accountability, working to oversee the institute's strategic development alongside the Institute’s General Assembly. Composed of seven members drawn from a wide variety of sectors and disciplines, the current Board serves for an initial two-year term (ending 31 March 2026). Each member serves in a personal capacity.
